Kay Lynette Peters

Kay Lynette Peters, age 68, passed away on March 26, 2024, at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato after a hard-fought battle with Multiple System Atrophy.

Kay was born on October 19, 1955, in Cloquet, Minnesota, to her loving parents, Marlin and Lenora (Hammerschmidt) Hickey.

Kay attended Mankato West High School where she met and later married Steven J. Vosburg. After welcoming their first child, Steven Chad Vosburg on September 19, 1973, Kay graduated and began doing daycare. Their second child, Tony Michael Vosburg was born August 11,1976.

Kay’s career in radio started in her late twenties. She learned she had a unique ability to sell after working a Home Interiors business. Kay retired as the Director of Business Development for KTIS radio station. During her time there she found her true passion and purpose working alongside a team of friends helping businesses thru marketing programs. Kay worked in the radio industry for over 35 years. She worked with secular radio groups:  CBS, Clear Channel and Hubbard Broadcasting, managing advertising sales teams.

At the age of 48 Kay attended Northwestern Christian College and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. Next, she graduated with master’s degree in organizational development counseling from Alder Graduate School in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Kay was a devoted wife to her husband, the late Gerald (Jerry) G. Peters for more than 25 years, and a loving mother to her two children, Steven and Tony. Family was the cornerstone of Kay's life, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Kay was the best host, an amazing cook and enjoyed working in the garden. Kay loved to travel but also relished in the solitude of reading at her cabin on the south shore of Lake Superior. Kay was led by her faith and trust in the lord who guided her life’s purpose.

Kay is survived by her sons Steven (DeeDra) Vosburg and Tony Vosburg and stepdaughter Heather Affolter; grandchildren: Samuel, Madelyn, and William Vosburg; Mason, Anesa, Vincent and Jacob Vosburg; Hannah and Joshua Affolter; siblings, Pamela Rae, Julie (Bob) Joerg, Michael Hickey, Lana (Randy) Simon; and mother, Lenora Hickey.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Peters and her father Marlin Hickey.
