Kenneth “Ken” Everett Nevins, age 79, of Lander, WY passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023. Northview – North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. No services are planned at this time.
Ken was born on February 22, 1944, to Everett and Mildred Nevins in Hendricks, MN. He attended Canby High School and later served in the United States Army, where he was an instructor for diesel mechanics. Ken married Brenda Lee Morris on March 5, 1969, in Astoria, SD, and together they had one daughter, Jennifer.
Ken worked as a farm equipment mechanic in SD, KS, and MN before starting his own business, Ken’s Tractor Repair, in 1986. He owned and operated this on-site repair business until his retirement. Farm kids always knew when they saw his truck that they were going to get a Tootsie Roll or a Starburst while he worked on the family’s equipment.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, Ken enjoyed stock car racing. Throughout life he loved hunting, trap shooting, and sharing his knowledge of firearm safety to the youth. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family; especially outdoors with his grandsons, who he loved dearly.
It was impossible to spend an hour with Ken and not laugh. He would leave you wondering if the story he told you was actually true! His teasing nature put everyone at ease, and he never met a stranger. His sister always said that if Ken had been a comedian, he would have been a millionaire.
Ken is survived by his wife, Brenda; daughter, Jennifer (Joe) Huelskamp; grandchildren, Caleb, and Dylan; father, Everett, and sister, Judy Sapp, as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Nevins.
