Kent Wilson Jones, age 76, of Lake Crystal, died Wednesday September 27, 2023.
A Celebration of Kent’s Life will be held from 3-6 p.m., November 10, 2023, at the Cambria Presbyterian Church in Cambria, MN. Private family interment will be in Cambria Cemetery prior to visitation.
Kent was born June 2, 1947, to Kenneth A. and Carmen L. (Wilson) Jones in New Ulm. He graduated from Windom Area High School in 1965 and continued his education with a master's degree from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington.
Kent had a passion for education. Following in his mother's footsteps, Kent was a teacher in Edina then worked as a business consultant for many years. In his retirement he had a great time substitute teaching in Mankato and Nicollet.
Kent enjoyed many hobbies. He loved spending time with friends - playing cribbage and Pfeffer, having many conversations and telling stories. He adored his Shire draft horses and the horse community. He had a huge collection of mystery novels and, yes, he read every single one of them! He enjoyed traveling to Scottsdale AZ, England, and Wales, and riding his Cushman Eagle scooter all over the countryside. He was a member of the Cambria Presbyterian Church, the same church in which he was baptized.
Kent is survived by his sister, Pastor Janeva Stromberg and brother-in-law, Donavon Stromberg of Mora, MN; two nieces, Meredith Stromberg of Burnsville and Kate (Jay) Szostek of Rochester, MN; best friends, Peggy Wichmann of Balaton and close cousin, Brian Coyer of Michigan; many cousins and friends will miss his outgoing nature and cheerful greetings. "Howdy, Howdy, Howdy!"
Kent was preceded in death by his sister, Catha Jones and his parents.
