Kimberley Ann Schmidt

December 25, 1958 — January 17, 2025

North Mankato, MN

It is with both sadness and celebration that we announce the passing of Kimberley Ann Schmidt, who left this world peacefully at her home in North Mankato, MN, on January 17, 2025, at the age of 66, surrounded by her beloved daughter, Amanda Panning. As Kimberley’s health began to decline, she chose to move in with Mandy, which allowed her to spend precious time with her grandchildren.

Kim was born on December 25, 1958, in Mankato to Richard Schmidt and Marilyn (Olson) Schmidt. Kimberley radiated joy, strength, and resilience throughout her life. Kimberley was a proud graduate of Mankato High School and earned a Bachelor of Art in Social Work from Mankato State University. In her younger years she sought adventure in Wyoming, and later returned back home to be near family.

She spent many fulfilling years as a property manager at Gus Johnson Apartments, where her love for the community shone through the strong relationships she built with residents and staff alike. Her commitment to making a difference in the lives of those around her was evident in both her professional and personal endeavors.

As a dedicated single mother, Kimberley raised her daughter Amanda with unwavering love and support. Her warmth and nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Kimberley is survived by her cherished daughter, Amanda (Luke) Panning of North Mankato; grandchildren, Mila Johnson, Callie Johnson, and Easton Panning; siblings, Craig (Christy) Schmidt of Apple Valley, Karrie (Larry) Dehn of Princeton, and Corey (Donna) Schmidt of Henderson, NV; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Schmidt and Marilyn Brown; maternal grandparents, Eddie and Evie Olson; and paternal grandparents, Mabel and Dale Ziebarth.

A celebration of Kim’s life will be held at 2pm, Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Crossview Covenant Church in North Mankato with visitation one hour prior. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Mankato.
