Larry Phillip Buckholtz

Larry Phillip Buckholtz, age 72, died at home on February 8, 2024.

 

Larry was born in Mankato on August 31, 1951 to Phillip and Muriel (Anderson) Buckholtz. He graduated from Mapleton High School in 1969. Larry married Frances (Graf) at Medo Baptist Church in rural Mapleton on May 6, 1972. Together, they raised five children on their family farm in rural Mapleton, MN. 

 

Larry had a passion for restoring classic cars and tractors and a love for farming. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He accepted Christ into his heart at Bass Lake Baptist Bible Camp as a young boy and was a lifelong member of Medo Baptist Church. Larry helped spread the word of Christ through music with the Mountain Lake Gospel Singers for over 22 years, traveling across southern Minnesota. Above all, Larry enjoyed spending time with his family.

 

He is survived by his wife, Frances; children, Tammy (Matt) Schwandt, Heath (Steph) Buckholtz, Joe (Jamie) Buckholtz, Luke (Ciara) Buckholtz, and Elisabeth (Grant) Hughes; 12 grandchildren, Emma, Aerin, Brooke, and Abby Schwandt; Nolan, Timothy, Lydia, and Colby Buckholtz; Gage Domeier; Madison Buckholtz; and Riley and Ellie Hughes; siblings, Margaret Duerksen and Sue Sommer; brother-in-law, Stan Rempel; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law; sister, Judy Rempel; and brothers-in-law, Gene Duerksen and Bob Sommer.

 

Visitation will be held from 4-7pm, Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary. Memorial service will be 11am, Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Medo Baptist Church with visitation two hours prior. Burial will be held at a later date at Beauford Morrow Cemetery.
