Larry "Hoss" M. Owens

Lawrence “Larry” "Hoss" M. Owens, age 76, of Mapleton/Amboy, died Saturday, August 24th, 2024, at Pathstone Living, Mankato.

Memorial Service Celebrating Larry’s Life will be 11:00 a.m., October 26, 2024, at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. October 25 and will continue one hour before service on October 26, all at Northview. 

Larry, the second of three children, was born September 15th, 1947, to Donald J. and Catherine (Jones) Owens in Mankato, MN. He graduated in 1965 from Mankato High School. 

Larry worked for the Blue Earth County Highway Department for over 36 years. He was also very involved in the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Posse for over 48 years. 

Larry was united in marriage to Cheryl Maurer September 1973 and had two daughters: Jyl and Apryl and built their home in Mapleton. Later, they divorced. 

Larry enjoyed fishing and hunting every season. He loved to tell many stories, patrol the neighborhood, and helping farmers with field work. He was proud of his purchase of his side by side. He enjoyed taking rides and going on some trips with his close friends. 

Larry is survived by daughters, Apryl (Quinten) Cazier of Afton, Wyoming, Jyl (David) Gartner of Mapleton; adopted daughter, Josie Johnson of Mankato; grandchildren, Hayden and Maddy Cazier, Maloree and Owen Gartner, Olivia and Ava Johnson; brother, Vern (Karen) Owens of Medford, MN; sister Donna (Rod) Church of Isanti, MN and extended family. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
