Larry Gene Schnoor, 89, of Mankato, passed away on September 27, 2024.
Larry was born in Wells, MN on September 5, 1935, active in the US Navy, loved his role as a teacher, enjoyed acting in theater productions and very active in the Speech Forensics organizations (locally and nationally, both at the high school and collegiate level). The majority of his career he was a professor at Mankato State University with several years as the Speech Department Chair and a Speech Forensics Coach. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, avid antique collector, and friend to many. Larry had a zest for life and will be deeply missed.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, August and Louise Schnoor and his sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Pete Hartman. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Schnoor; daughters, Amy Kain (Wes) and Laura Schnoor (Bob); grandchildren, Christa Kain (Mitch), Nicole Heers (Nate), and Tyler Kain; great-grandchildren, Nessa Heers and Nels Heers; nephew, Steve Hartman (Rosemary); niece, Susan Hartman; and several other loving relatives.
Please help us celebrate Larry’s life on Saturday, October 5, 2024. We will have a visitation gathering held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary (1001 N. Riverfront Dr., Mankato). Larry always loved colorful clothing, so put on your colorful outfits and join in sharing joyful memories together.
