Lawrence W. “Larry” Craig, 84, of Mankato, died on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Interment will be at Kerns Oak Grove Cemetery in Belgrade Township.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Northview – North Mankato Mortuary and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Lawrence William, the son of Walter and Elsie (Larson) Craig, was born on March 21, 1935 in Mankato. In 1953, he graduated from Mankato High School. Larry earned his associates degree. He also served in the Army from 1958 to 1960, with an Honorable Discharge. He married Marge Mettler on July 1, 1961. Larry was previously employed at Mankato Citizen Telephone Company for 36 years and he retired in 1998. He was a member of the Bald Eagle’s Club and the American Legion Club. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting and working with his hands creating objects with engines that would actually work and propel the piece of art.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl Starrett (fiancé, Ron Olsen), Kimberly Chodur and Carol Craig; grandchildren, Joshua Craig, Cory Chodur, Brian Chodur, Julie Chodur, and Cassandra Starrett; and several cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marge; and son, Michael Craig.
