Leonard Guy Damrow

Leonard “Lenny” Guy Damrow, 77, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, Minnesota.

Born July 26, 1943 in San Diego, Lenny’s favorite place was the open road. A member of the Kato Cycle Club, Lenny often shared stories of his many motorcycle rides where he explored the country—and he never neglected to mention how he often ran out of gas in South Dakota. Lenny held many jobs during his working years: he worked in construction, drove taxi for Kato Cab, and on the railroad as a self-proclaimed “gandy dancer” where he scouted and repaired the rails. In addition to riding motorcycle, Lenny enjoyed reading about various subjects that ranged from the history of the locomotive to Calvin and Hobbes comics. He took great pride in his music collection and he could often be found groovin'. Those close to Lenny would agree that while he may have appeared rough on the outside, he also had a quirky sense of humor and a heart of gold.

Lenny is survived by his sister, Barbara Ghilselin; and nephew, Charles Damrow. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Herman Damrow and Jane Edith Damrow (Flanagan); and brother, Gordon Welch Damrow. He will be missed tremendously by many friends, especially his former care staff, Kaitlyn, Aleah, and Amanda who will forever be grateful for having been given the opportunity to be in his life.

Memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato. Masks and social distancing are required.
