Leonard J. Fritz

Leonard J. Fritz, age 89, of Mapleton, died on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at his home. 

A private family mass will be held at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Mapleton due to the current corona virus. A public service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Mapleton.  Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Leonard was born on November 27, 1930 to Henry and Laura (Wannarka) Fritz.  He graduated from Amboy High School in 1948.  Leonard served in the United States Navy.  He was proud of his service and went on annual reunion trips with his USS Colonial shipmates.  Leonard farmed for many years with his brother, Marvin.  He also worked at Monsanto in Mapleton.  Leonard played town ball with his brothers as catcher and loved playing basketball. He also enjoyed curling and golfing.  Leonard was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and St. Teresa Catholic Church. 

Leonard is survived by his brothers, Marvin of Mapleton and Larry of Denver, CO; sister, Donna (Royce) Hiller of Good Thunder; and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille (Syd) Billingsley; and sister-in-law, Neva Fritz.
