Leroy Clayton Olson

Leroy Clayton Olson, age 80, of Lake Crystal, MN passed away on his farm on Monday, February 5, 2024.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, February 9, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Jeanne Kumbalek presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church as well. Private burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal or to the American Heart Association. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Leroy was born on May 24, 1943, at home in Randall, MN to Lester and Clara (Thorson) Olson. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1961. Leroy married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou Thomas on March 14, 1964, at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal and together they were blessed with two children, Christopher, and Laurie.

Leroy was a farmer all his life, even beyond retirement. He served on the Butternut Valley town board for 20 years. Leroy enjoyed golfing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He was hard working and would do anything for anyone.

Leroy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou; children, Christopher, and Laurie (George) Moldan; sisters-in-law, Jean (Jim) Miner, and Barb (Ernie) Gatchell; nieces, nephew, and friends.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Clara Olson; brother, Severen Olson; parents-in-law, Joe and Edith Thomas, and brother-in-law, Joseph Lowell Thomas.
