Lillian Elaine (Lysaght) Sehe, age 94, of Mankato, died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 14, 2024, in Mankato, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be an hour before the service. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Lunch will follow burial at Ss. Peter and Paul Jesuit Hall. Arrangements with Mankato Mortuary.
Lillian, the daughter of James Peter Lysaght and Isabelle Collete (Cormier) Lysaght was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 11,1929. Her family moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan when she was about 10 years old. Lillian was the second youngest of ten siblings. Lillian graduated from St. John’s High School, Benton Harbor, Michigan, May 28,1948. She attended the Junior College of Benton Harbor. Lillian worked as an assistant to the Treasurer of Barrien County, Michigan. Lillian met Charles Sehe when he came with a fellow veteran and classmate from the University of Iowa to work during the summer on the Lysaght farm. After meeting the approval of her parents, Lillian married Charles T. Sehe on June 20, 1953, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Lillian and Charles moved to Iowa City while Charles completed his degree and research at the University of Iowa. After several moves, they made their home and raised their family in Mankato. Lillian was devoted to her family and her faith. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Lillian enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting, and when time permitted playing Bridge.
Lillian is survived by her husband of 71 years, Charles Sehe; children Isabel Sehe, Mary (Clarence) Ites, Kieran (Frank Vito) Loparco, Elizabeth Sehe, and James Sehe; four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, many nephews, nieces and their families.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Charles Marshall, James Richard, William Anthony, Marie (Lysaght) Calvert, Sr. Mary Blanche Lysaght RSM (Jeanne Isabelle), John Frances, James Henry, Col. Charles Andrew Lysaght USAF, and Thomas Donald.
Lillian’s family wishes to thank the Mayo Health System and Ecumen Hospice for the care given.
