Linda Susan (Zawacki) Loge, age 68, of Mankato, died on June 9, 2019 at Laurel’s Peak after a long battle with cancer.
Visitation will be at Mankato Mortuary on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 4-7p.m., as well as one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral Service will be at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Mankato at 11 a.m., on Thursday, June 13, 2019. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery in St. Clair. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are preferred to Bethany Lutheran College in support of the Linda S. Loge Scholarship.
She was born on December 25, 1950 in Chicago, IL, to Edward Anthony and Marie Louise (Nelsen) Zawacki. Her family later moved to Lombard, IL where she was confirmed at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church and graduated from Glenbard East High School. Linda earned an associate degree from Bethany Lutheran College and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in social work and corrections from Mankato State College. She married Loren H. Loge on September 7, 1974 in Lombard, IL, and they made their home in St. Clair, MN. Linda worked part-time at Robinson Appraisal while raising her family and later worked in the Office of Admissions at Bethany Lutheran College from 1996 until her retirement in 2015, following a diagnosis with cancer. She was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and enjoyed reading, exercising, traveling, baking, and gardening.
Linda is survived by her two children, Lorelee Loge Hood (Philip) of Lake Bluff, IL and Eric Loren Loge (Sally) of Finksburg, MD; five grandchildren, Lauren, Elin, Jack, Alexander, and Conner; sisters-in-law, Dona Mathesen, Mina Folven, Marvis (Arnold) Karge, Sandra (Gerald) Urban, Lynette (Juel) Merseth; brother-in-law, Marlyn (Kathy) Loge as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers-in-law, Don Folven and Carlyle Matheson. Special thanks to her beloved friend, Terri Westphal, for all of her love and care during her illness.
