UPDATED - Former Mankato resident, Linley A. Barnes, age 87 of Wasilla, Alaska and Spring Lake, Minnesota, died November 8, 2020 at the Wasilla Hospital.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Mankato Mortuary with Pastor John Petersen officiating. Immediately following the service, there will be time to visit with family and share favorite stories. A military honor burial will be in Minneopa Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Wounded Warriors, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, or to an organization of the donor’s choice.

Besides being a Blue Earth County Commissioner for over 12 years, Lin was active in Kiwanis and Boy Scouts.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Barnes of Wasilla, Alaska (and Spring Lake, MN); three sons, David Barnes and wife, Susan of Wasilla, Alaska; Bruce Barnes and wife, Judie of North Branch, Minnesota, John Barnes of Lindstrom, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Lin was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Bradley and a brother, Glen Barnes and sister-in-law, Clara Joy.

 

 

November 2020 Notification - Linley A. Barnes, age 87, former Mankato resident and Blue Earth County Commissioner, died November 8, 2020 at the Wasilla Hospital in Alaska.
