Lois J. Kodet

Lois J. Kodet of North Mankato has completed her mission on earth. The Lord has a room prepared for her in her heavenly home. She passed away on November 24, 2021 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living of North Mankato.

Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Waconia, MN.  Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Lois was born on October 6, 1941. She was the daughter of Alphonse and Elizabeth (Heimerl) Hartmann of Waconia, MN. She graduated from Waconia, MN parochial grade school and public high school. Her pursuit in life was to be a secretary.

On August 1, 1964 she married Ambrose Kodet at the Catholic Church of St. Joseph in Waconia, MN. She accompanied him in his teaching assignments at Waconia, MN, Eau Claire, WI and Mankato, MN.

Lois had many secretarial jobs at Eau Claire, WI, Grand Forks, ND and in the Mankato, MN area. Perhaps her most outstanding service was in typing Master’s theses and Doctoral dissertations for graduate students at the University of North Dakota and also at Mankato State University. Lois was highly recommended for this work by graduate offices of both institutions. She was knowledgeable with several style manuals in the process.

Lois served as a lector at the Newman Center when she came to Mankato. She was a religious person and joined Holy Rosary Parish in North Mankato where she served as a Eucharistic minister. Also, she baked cakes for bake sales and prepared salads for church salad luncheons.

Lois was a loving wife, a homemaker who enjoyed her home. Her hobbies were reading extensively, gardening (vegetable and flower), baking, and home decorating. Lois always had a smile and was friendly toward everyone.

She is survived by her husband, Ambrose; brother-in-law, John Goche of Bancroft, IA; and sister-in-law, Laura Andersen of Jacksonville, FL. Lois did not have any siblings or children.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; brothers-in-law, Melvin and Gerald Kodet; sister-in-law, Frances Goche; and brother-in-law, Sal Scalia.

Blessed be her memory.
