Loretta Clara Diel was born on October 8, 1931 to Marie Diel in Ceresco Township, Blue Earth County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Willow Creek, MN. Loretta also received her schooling in the Willow Creek School District. In the many stories that Mom would tell; it was evident that these formative years surrounded by loving family, neighbors and friends were truly special to her.
On September 22, 1948 Loretta married Orville H. Krosch of Good Thunder; her husband of 63 years. Together they started their lives on the farm of Orville’s parents, Bernard and Amanda. In her last years, it became a point of pride of Loretta’s that she had lived on that same farm for over 70 years. She and Orville raised five God fearing, productive children on those 160 acres along with the cows, pigs and chickens. Loretta was never one to shy away from hard work. On top of all the duties of being a farm wife, mother and daughter; she somehow found the energy to work the canning seasons early in her life and Tony Downs Foods for the last 27 years of her work life.
Loretta’s retirement years were no less energetic as her work years; filled with beautiful flowers, big gardens, salsa, pickles, cooking and chocolate chip cookies! Her role as caretaker, especially in these years, was synonymous with her identity. From great grandchildren to her elderly mother and everyone in between; she always made her home and her time available to family. Faith and family were the foundation of Loretta Krosch.
Mom/Grandma will look wonderful in her new crown!
She is survived by children, Wayne (Patricia), Douglas (Jennie), Doreen (Kevin) Hoffman, Steve (Debra), and Mark (Crista); 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marilyn.
She was preceded in death by her mother; husband; brother; and brother-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Vernon Center.
