Lorraine M. Birk

Lorraine Marie Birk, age 94, of St. Clair, died on March 4, 2023 at BridgeWater at Janesville.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Clair with Rev. Jeffrey Enderle officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Tivoli Cemetery, Blue Earth County, Minnesota.

Lorraine was born March 6, 1928 to Joseph and Clara (Larson) Mosher in LeRay Township, Blue Earth County.  She attended Tivoli Country School then later graduating from St. Clair High School.  On June 6, 1953 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Clair she married Arthur Erick Birk and together they had 4 children, Glenn, Steven, David & Ann.  They farmed in rural St. Clair, Lorraine never really retired, she stayed busy with raising kids, being a farm wife and helping out around the farm until her health no longer allowed well into her 80’s.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, baking, gardening, tending to her flower gardens, taking care of the cows and she loved a good garage sale day. She tried many different crafts and hobbies over the years.   Lorraine was a master at baking homemade bread and doughnuts.  Lorraine always had a pet dog at her house, most recently Rex.  She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church ladies aide for many years.

Lorraine is survived by her children and grandchildren: Glenn & Steven Birk, rural Mankato, David (Lara) Birk, Mankato and Ann (Steve) Arndt, Eagle Lake and grandchildren Mason Arndt & Mallory Arndt.  Sister-in-Law Deloris Mosher of St. Clair and Brother & Sister in Law Walter (Phyllis) Birk of Winona. Several nieces, nephew & some cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur in 2002, brothers & wives Kenneth (Friedella) Mosher, Willis (Fern) Mosher, Lee Mosher, Dean Mosher and infant sister Marie, sister & brother in law Verna & Lester Schoenrock.
