He graduated from Janesville High School in 1947 and farmed with his father until 1951 when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served for 4 years as an airborne radio-operator on B-29’s in the Korean War, B-50’s and C-124’s stateside. He was honorably discharged in 1955 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
On July 30, 1960, Lyle was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lucille Fasnacht, in Madison Lake. Lyle worked for Mankato Tile and Terrazzo for 9 years before going to work for Standard Oil Co. as a commissioned agent from 1969-1976. He loved spending time with friends while at the cabin on Leech Lake in Walker, MN as well as with snowbird friends while escaping Minnesota winters to Bonita Springs, FL.
