Lyle Lynn Kettner, age 73, of rural Nicollet, died Monday, December 30, 2024 at The Pillars in Mankato.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Savior’s Lutheran Music Fund or Moments Hospice.
Lyle was born December 9, 1951, to Roland C. and Lanita E. (Hopp) Kettner in Mankato. He graduated from Nicollet High School in 1969. Lyle operated the family farm after graduation, upgrading when needed. He also worked part-time for nearly 30 years at Hewitt Manufacturing, while farming. He retired from farming in 2019 due to poor health.
Lyle enjoyed hog roasts at the farm, fish fry nights at the Nicollet Legion, spending time in the Boundary Waters with Our Saviors youth group. Lyle enjoyed singing solos of hymns and patriotic songs at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for many years.
Lyle always enjoyed sharing a joke with family and friends.
Lyle is survived by his five siblings, Lynnis (Marvanna) Kettner of rural Winthrop, LeAnn (Gerry) Sweet of Bloomington, Cheryl Pederson of Hector, Larry (Linda) Kettner of Kasota, and Jean Lindemann of Spicer; nephews and niece, Todd (Paula) Kettner, Michael (Kelly) Kettner, and Kristin (Roger) Edwardson; great-nephews and nieces, Zachary and Brianna Kettner, Mitchell, Alison, and Andrew Kettner, Riley Edwardson; and extended family.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Pederson and Thomas Lindemann.
