Mabel Bernice Ewy

Mabel B. Ewy, age 90, of Mankato, died on June 6, 2024 at Laurel’s Peak.   

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Butterfield Mennonite Cemetery. 

Mabel was born on September 23, 1933 to John and Martha (Warkentin) Krahn in Mountain Lake, MN.  She graduated from high school.  In her later teens, her father introduced her to motorcycles and she proudly rode her Harley Davidson.  On July 11, 1958, Mabel was united in marriage to Melvin Ewy at the MB Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake.  She farmed alongside her husband in the St. James area.  She was a natural working the machinery, combining was her specialty.   Mabel and Melvin wintered in Arizona.   Mabel moved to Mankato in 2006 to be near her sister and husband.  She became a friend to the neighbors and their dogs where they met nightly in her garage.  

Mabel is survived by her sisters-in-law, Shirley Trullinger of Hanover, Audrey Rieger of New Ulm, and Patricia Valdez of Denver, CO; nieces, Michelle Fluegge and Dawn Oswald; nephews, Todd Rieger, Kurt Rieger, Daniel Trullinger, Michael Trullinger; and special friend, Carol Slieter and her dog, Gracie.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; parents-in-law, Alfred and Geneva Ewy;  sister, Erna (Freddie) Schroeder; sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise (Victor) Grier, Quentin Rieger, and Roy Trullinger.
