Marcella G. Baker, age 91, of rural Kasota, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Ecumen Pathstone Living, Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Marysburg. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at the Northview – North Mankato Mortuary and continue at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Marysburg Catholic Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed and available on Marcella’s obituary page at www.mankatomortuary.com.
Marcella was born on August 8, 1932 in Mankato to Ernest and Agnes (Hoehn) Frederick. She attended Marysburg grade school and graduated from Cleveland High School. Marcella was united in marriage to Joseph Baker in 1951 in Madison Lake. They farmed in rural Kasota for many years. She was a homemaker and raised 11 children. Marcella was a member of Marysburg Catholic Church, CCW of Marysburg, and sang in the Marysburg Choir for years. She enjoyed baking, canning, cooking, and gardening. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, fishing, camping, winters in Texas, and spending time with family and friends. She also worked for Young America and Westwood Bar and Marina.
Marcella is survived by children; Tom (Karen) Baker of Lake Jefferson, Mary (Gregg) Swenson of Rochester, Tim (Colleen) Baker of Lake Washington, Pat (Deb) Baker of Lake Washington, Dan (Connie) Baker of Rochester, Tony (Shirley) Baker of Spearfish, SD, Kathy (Ken) Morris of Wisconsin, Shelly (Rich) Jaqua of Mankato, John (Brenda) Baker of Red Wing, Joe (Jill) Baker of Willmar, and Donald (Lisa) Baker of Janesville; special nephew, Tom (Bonnie) Thomas; 31 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; sister, Grace Bohr; brother, Willard Frederick; sisters in law, Mary Frederick, Patricia Roemhildt and Mary Ann Baker; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph in 2019; 5 sisters; and 3 brothers.
