Marcia L. Chalgren, age 91, of Mankato, died Sunday, July 16, 2023.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church, Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato. Memorials may be given to the William and Marcia Chalgren Nursing Scholarship, Department of Nursing, Minnesota State University – Mankato or First Presbyterian Church, Mankato.
Northview – North Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Marcia was born July 17, 1931, to Leon J. and Martha H. (Vogel) McLaughlin in Mankato. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1949, then Mankato Teachers College, and graduated from Northwestern School of Nursing, Minneapolis. Marcia taught nursing students at Northwestern Hospital for several years.
Marcia was united in marriage to William S. Chalgren in February of 1960 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, IA. Marcia worked with her husband in his medical practice.
Marcia was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mankato, where she was a very active member serving in all capacities during her life. She was a member of the Garden Club, Mankato Curling Club, Glenwood Cemetery Board of Directors, Mankato Golf Club, and volunteered at Pathstone Living.
Marcia enjoyed traveling the world with William and family, golfing, and attending the Mankato Symphony and the Minnesota Orchestra concerts.
Marcia is survived by her sister-in-law, Diane McLaughlin; nephews, David (Wendy) McLaughlin, Steven McLaughlin, Kevin McLaughlin, Mark (Stephanie) McLaughlin; great-nephews, Matthew and Levi; great-niece, Donna; step-children and step-grandchildren; and extended family.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Martha; husband, William in 2012; brother, James McLaughlin; and sister, Jean Jensen.
