Marcus Romaine Cargill, Jr.

October 19, 2004 — February 15, 2024

Mankato, MN

Marcus Romaine Cargill, Jr. left us too soon on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

Marcus was the oldest of 3, born October 19, 2004 in Minneapolis, MN to Evett Nance and Marcus Cargill, Sr. Growing up in Minneapolis before moving to Mankato in 2018 to be near family. Marcus attended East High and Central Community Center. He was very talented and loved to play football, basketball, and soccer. Marcus even dabbled in ballroom dancing and became a part of BDPA, a catalyst for growth and technical development for youth in the IT industry. Marcus was honestly the jack of all trades. He was a comedian, singer, rapper, dancer, had a green thumb, animal lover, and the list goes on. Marcus had a career in the healthcare field as a direct support professional for Sevita Health. In his spare time, Marcus made Tik Toks with his little sister, Markiveya, and little brother, Maurice, but as he would call them, “Kiwi and Reese.” He would always be super excited to do bath time with his beautiful daughter, Madihah, and sat up late having deep intellectual conversations with his mom about the world and life in general. Marcus touched so many souls, it was unbelievable to be so young. His mother was approached numerous times to be told by strangers that his energy and spirit is very unique and grasping. Marcus was always big on family. That was really important to him. Becoming a father changed him tremendously. Marcus was one unique individual. Marcus was loved by so many and impacted so many. Marcus’s energy was everything. His morals and values that he strongly believed in made him a little stubborn, but he had a heart of a lion and a leadership and growth mindset. Beyond his multiple talents and attractive looks, Marcus was an all around amazing father, loyal and overprotective brother, and a phenomenal son that has a calming presence and a vibe that will be missed every second of the day!

Marcus is survived by his mother, Evett Nance; father, Marcus Cargill, Sr.; sister, Markiveya Cargill; brother, Maurice Cargill; beautiful daughter, Madihah Cargill; grandmothers, Barbara Smith and Valerie Cargill; and a list of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is dancing in the sky with his great-grandmother, Naomi Edwards; uncle, Donald Jackson; uncle, David Jackson; aunt, Beverly Howard; and uncle Wesley Howard (Evett’s family); and great-grandmother, Ratha Cargill; Great-grandfather, Cleaven Cargill; great-aunts, Marion and Miriam Cargill and Elene Cargill; cousin, Curtin Thurman; great-uncles, Everett Cargill and Cleaven Cargill (father’s family)
