Margaret Marcella Ryan

Margaret Marcella Ryan, 97, of Mankato, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

The visitation will start at 9:30 am on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato. The memorial service follows at 11 am at the church. Burial will take place at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Please share a memory of Margaret with her family at www.mankatomortuary.com.

Margaret was born on the family farm in Albin Township on October 24, 1921 to Alfred and Helga (Olson) Hagen. She graduated from St. James High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to Thomas A. Ryan in 1948.

Margaret was a long-time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She loved the pastors, staff and members of the church and treasured all of the time she spent at various church activities. She was a great letter writer and family and friends would always be reminded that Margaret was thinking of them whenever they received one of her frequent letters.

Margaret is survived by her three children, Jim Ryan of Mankato, Judy (Paul Carey) Ryan of Hudson, WI, and Bill (Sue) Ryan of Lino Lakes; two grandchildren, Lindsay Ryan and Sean (Lexi) Ryan; sisters-in-law, Jeannine Mory and Eleanor Ryan; and many nieces and nephews who brought such joy to her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Thomas; and her three beloved sisters, Irene Bernloehr, Adeline Howard, and Sylvia Tollefson.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center, Primrose Retirement Community and Mayo Clinic Health System for the wonderful care you gave to Margaret.
