Margaruitte “Muggs” Anntonette (Connelly) Bruner, age 85, of North Mankato, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Monarch Meadows after a prolonged illness.
Funeral Service 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Sunrise Assembly of God Church, St. Peter. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m., Monday at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue one hour before service on Tuesday at the church. Interment will 11:15 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Margaruitte was born November 27, 1933, to James and Mavilda (Scoville) Connelly in Owatonna, Minnesota. Her mother passed away shortly after Margaruitte’s birth, and her father was unable to care for her. She was mostly raised by Mary and Theodore Hendley who resided in North Mankato, but also spent some of her growing up years in Minneapolis. She returned to Mankato for her last two years of high school and graduated from Mankato High School in 1952. On December 29, 1953, she married Oscar Bruner, and they were blessed with 65 years of marriage. She spent 32 years working for Kato Engineering in various positions. Margaruitte was an active member and volunteer at her church, Sunrise Church, St Peter. She enjoyed many artistic activities, including painting, sewing, quilting, singing, acting and writing. After retiring, she and Oscar spent a number of years traveling in their RV and volunteering with Missions Abroad Placement Service.
Margaruitte is survived by her husband, Oscar A. Bruner of North Mankato; three children, Mallorie (Richard) Green of Salt Lake City, UT, Kammie (Robert) Meyerson of Lakeville, MN, and Renden (Bev) Bruner of Mankato, MN; nine grandchildren, Kollin (Jennifer) Green, Tyson (Amber) Green, Kaitlyn (Justin) Fitz, Kosan (Bryniel) McIntyre, Coleman Meyerson, Morgan Meyerson, Elijah Bruner, Gabriela Bruner and Shoshana Bruner; five great-grandchildren, Trinity Green, Zoe Green, Selah Green, Kareese Green, and Opal McIntyre; and many nieces and nephews. Margaruitte was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters.
Memorials are preferred to Mayo Hospice or the Mankato Salvation Army. A special thank you to the staff at Monarch Meadows and to the Mayo Hospice and Palliative Care teams for their care.
