Marian Mae Hemingsen

Marian Mae Hemingsen, age 87, of Mankato, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Mankato.

Marian was born January 3, 1933 in Montevideo, MN to Harry and Minnie (Mork) Wigen.

She graduated from Boyd High School. Marian married Donald Hemingsen on February 5, 1956 in Boyd, MN. They later moved to Dawson, MN where they raised their family before relocating to Mankato. Marian was a homemaker and worked at the Dawson Nursing Home as a nurse assistant. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, working on crossword puzzles, spending time with family and friends, volunteering at the Echo Food Shelf and at Church Functions. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Marian is survived by her children, Steven (Mona) of Jacksonville, FL,  Debra (Jim) Knutson of Mankato, and Michael (Candee) of St. Joseph, MO; daughter-in-law, Donna (Tim) Hemingsen-Kleppe of Cokato, MN; 8 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mildred and Renee Hemingsen; and brother-in-law, Chris (Mary Ann) Hemingsen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald in 2012; son, Brian in 1991; infant grandson; and grandson, Bryan in 2012.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Hillcrest Healthcare Center and Mayo Clinic Hospice for their compassionate love and care.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family prefers memorials be directed to either Hillcrest Healthcare Center or Mayo Clinic Hospice.
