Marie Legg

Marie Legg, age 87, of Lake Crystal, died Friday, January 8, 2021 at her home.

A Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato.  Private family interment will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.

Marie was born June 18, 1933 to Roland and Helen B. (Smith) Wray in Heron Lake, Minnesota.  She met and married her love, Edward Legg on May 10, 1954 in Heron Lake.  Marie spent her early married life as a Navy wife.  As her family grew, she dedicated her life to family, farming, and sewing.  She sewed many clothes for her children and herself.  That prepared her for her town job at Ben Franklin in New Ulm working in the fabric department.  In her retirement years her love of friends and family grew.  She had weekly scrabble games with her friends and continued sewing, making 186 quilts, embroidered dish towels, rugs and oven mitts.  All of which she gave to friends and family.  Her generosity was extraordinary.  One Christmas she gave each of her 40 family members a quilt. Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family.

Marie is survived by her four children, Nancy Legg of Gulfport, Mississippi, Linda (John) Othoudt, Lisa (Glenn) Bible, and Eric (Annie) Legg all of Lake Crystal; ten grandchildren; seventeen and a half great-grandchildren; three sisters, Donna Hanson of Heron Lake, Jean (Ken) Swenson of Marshfield, WI, and Pat (Gordy) Peters of Burnsville; and extended family.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed in 2017; son, Brian; grandson, Josh Bible; and brother-in-law, Dave Hanson.
