Mark Bernhard Birr, age 69, of Good Thunder, died Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 20, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church, Good Thunder. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Thursday. Family Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Good Thunder.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church, Maple River Food Shelf, American Cancer Society, or the Good Thunder Fire Department.

Mark was born December 17, 1955, to Walter L. and Louise P. (Welsh) Birr in Mankato. Mark graduated from Amboy-Good Thunder High School in 1974.

In his youth, he was a member of the Lyra Merry Workers 4-H Club, later serving as a 4-H leader. He enjoyed playing football as an AGT Charger and snowmobiling with friends.

Mark was united in marriage to Linda M. Kunz on May 6, 1977 at St. John Lutheran Church, Mapleton, MN. 

Mark was a farmer, general contractor and worked at Minnesota Elevator for 25 years as a fabricator and welder. 

Mark was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Good Thunder, where he served on many boards as well as a past church president. 

Mark loved spending time with his family, vacations at Evergreen Lodge in Park Rapids, MN, watching his grandchildren’s activities, hunting, fishing, volunteering at Maple River Loaves and Fishes Food Shelf, and daily Ranger rides to the river and through the family farm.

Mark is survived by his wife, Linda; three children, Bernhard “Ben” (Jodi) Birr of Good Thunder, Melissa (Rob) Danks of North Mankato, and Angela (Jason) Andreen of Janesville; seven grandchildren, Annabelle and Wyatt Birr, Robert and Hannah Danks, Aiden, Emily, and Zachary Andreen; two sisters, Kathy (Curt) Hanson of Good Thunder and Julie (Lee) Marvin of Princeton; mother-in-law, Beata Kunz of Mapleton; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Melissa Birr of Easton, Gary (Nancy) Kunz of Le Center, and Carol (Curt Lund) Bissonette of North Mankato; nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stephen; father-in-law, Roland Kunz; nieces, Lana Nassan and Michelle Straumann.
