Born on June 26, 1960 to Leonard and Lucille (Veroeven) Depuydt, he was the 8th of 11 kids. Growing up on the family farm, he learned to operate and fix anything, and as an adult, Mark liked to wear a t-shirt that said, “Still Plays with Tractors.”
After graduating from Mankato East High School in 1978, he began working at Big Gain Inc. He started as a mechanic and became the feed mill manager. He will be remembered as a generous mentor to many of his co-workers during his 46 years with Big Gain.
Mark met Teresa Hollerich, also a farm kid from a large family, in his early 20s. They got married on August 28, 1982 and have lived on the farm near St. Clair since then. Mark and Teresa are the proud parents of Russell, Kaitlin and Randy. He cherished his role as grandpa to his six precious grandchildren.
Mark farmed his whole life, in partnership with his brothers, Kevin and Frank, and later his son, Randy. It was important to him to continue farming the land his grandpa Peter had purchased, and he always had the energy and patience to share his skills with anyone who wanted to learn.
Mark and Teresa were involved in a monthly card club with friends for over 36 years. Mark was a faithful usher at 8am Masses at St. John’s, and he volunteered with the St. Clair Athletic Backers, leading the State Fair clean-up days for many years.
Mark is survived by his wife of 42 years, Teresa Depuydt; sons, Russell (Colleen) and Randy (Aly); daughter, Kaitlin (Adam) Bormann; grandchildren, Oliver, Mia, George, Laurence, Daniel and Anna; siblings, Donna Klinkner, Tom Depuydt, Diane Depuydt, Jerry (Kathy) Depuydt, Deb (Dave) Huhn, Marie (Mark) Meyer, Connie Depuydt, Roxanne Haust, Dean (Rachel) Depuydt, Kevin (Gayle) Depuydt, and Frank Depuydt; siblings-in-law, Mary Scheurer, Don (Jennifer) Hollerich, Joan Robbins, Barb (Mike) Lynch, Sue (Calvin) Baarts, Kathy (Larry) Caven, Dave (Pam) Hollerich, and Lori (Scott) Friedrichs.
