Mark Lee Hinton, 82, of Saint Peter, MN passed away suddenly February 18, 2025 surrounded by family in Mesa, AZ, where they wintered for many years.
Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato with visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 4:00-7:00p.m. at Northview- North Mankato Mortuary. Born March 26, 1942 to Dowell and Dora (Ditch) Hinton in Sibley, IA. Graduated from Round Lake High School in 1960. Mark married Janet (Schroeder) on November 24, 1960 in Worthington, MN.
Mark had many passions including attending family (grandkids) special events, hosting annual Labor Day weekend at the cottage, especially the Fish Boil, great times on Lake Washington including boating, fishing, picnics, and always special Christmas Eve with church and oyster stew. Mark also enjoyed mowing and observing nature at the hunting farm. Mark loved to travel with the RV. He took many different types of trips, a favorite being Africa. Mark also liked big toys and shared them his family.
Mark was very proud to be a co-owner of Big Gain Inc. for more than 50 years. Mark really enjoyed working with the team. He always said, everyone was as important as the other. Mark’s motto was, “Help producers make food.” His goal at Big Gain was to make customers successful. If customers were successful, Big Gain would be successful.
Mark is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janet Hinton; 6 children: Sharon (Clark) Fitzloff, Pam (Rich) Fischer, Toni(Chris) Knight, Tim (Megan) Hinton, Julie (Mikel) Nelson, and Kim (George)Rendl; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings: Terril (Dave) Norman, Mick (Sue) Hinton, Barb Gunning, Suzanne (Vince) Watje; siblings-in-law: Jerry (Linda) Schroeder, Dave (Becky) Schroeder, and Kathy (Gordy) Pearson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, and brother-in-law, Stan Gunning.
