Mark Otto Shult, "Mark the Barber" 73, of North Mankato, died February 22, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2023 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in North Mankato. Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2023 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr., in North Mankato and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Risen Savior Lutheran School, or MVL High School. Mark was born July 17, 1949 to Duane and Fern (Thom) Shult in New Ulm. He graduated from Nicollet High School in 1967 and continued on to barber school in Minneapolis. He started barbering in 1968 at various shops in Mankato. Mark served in the US National Guard from 1968 to 1974. On July 28, 1979, he married Bonnie Runge in Rochester. Together, they raised one son, Justin.
Mark owned and operated Mark’s Belgrade Barber Shop for over 40 years in North Mankato. He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, playing cards, watching the Twins, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Mark is survived by his wife of 43 years, Bonnie; son, Justin (Breanna) of Mankato; grandchildren, Kinsley and Brayden; mother, Fern Shult of Nicollet; siblings, Joel (Reniece) of Nicollet and Jody (Doug) Kircher of Sanborn; and nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Duane.
