Marvin Ray Glemming was born October 28, 1946 in Fargo, North Dakota to Arnold and Melva (Pearson) Glemming. He was the third of seven children, graduated from Tower City High School and attended the University of North Dakota - Grand Forks. He entered the United States Navy and served his country onboard the USS Hancock and NAS Whiting Field during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on April 25, 1969.
Upon discharge, he made his home in Milton, Florida, where he married Jean Owens and they later returned to Tower City, North Dakota. Besides farming, Marvin started his longtime telecommunications career with Northwestern Bell, Honeywell and later moved to Minneapolis and worked with AT&T in the business sales division. In the early 1990's, he moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he continued his career with MCI, Sprint, Avaya, and Qwest.
Upon retirement, Marvin spent many hours sailing on his sailboat "Cowbuoy Dancer", golfing on numerous courses throughout the US, building a barndominium home in rural Custer, South Dakota, and traveling to see and spend time with friends and family. Most recently, Marvin had moved to Minnesota, where he and his son, Marc resided in Otsego. Marvin's five grandchildren brought immense sparkle to his eye, smile to his face and warmth to his heart.
Marvin died unexpectedly on Friday, February 23, 2024 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale at 77 years of age.
Marvin will be sadly missed by his sons, Marc Glemming of Otsego, Minnesota, Dylan Glemming and wife, Michaela of Norfolk, Virginia; five grandchildren, Colton and Elizabeth Glemming, Ava and Owen Glemming, and Charlotte "Charlie" Glemming; five siblings, Arlin Glemming of Evening Shade, Arkansas, Wayne Glemming and wife, Peggy of Tucson, Arizona, Wanda Kaiser of Lake Forest, California, Nela Glemming of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Gayla Satre and husband, Kevin of Mankato, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Marvin was preceded death by his parents Arnold and Melva Glemming, son Eric Glemming, and brother Howard Glemming
