Mary L. Brackey

Mary Lee Brackey, age 74, of Mankato, died Monday, August 10, 2020 at her home.

Private memorial service will be held. Interment will be in Madison Township Cemetery, Forest City, Iowa. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Lee was born May 28, 1946 to Alfred Theodore and Bernadatta Bernice (Etzen) Brackey in Geneva, Minnesota. Mary lived at REM Heartland since 1994. She lived at the Birch Building where she became friends and family with her housemates. Mary would always bring a smile to the faces of staff and anyone she would encounter. Mary worked at MRCI for over 30 years. Mary loved seeing her friends, relaxing in her room, sipping hot cocoa and crocheting. Mary was a collector. She would collect movies, jewelry, stuffed animals and anything that caught her eye. Mary always had on jewelry and loved finding that special piece that would bring her joy. When she would see someone wearing a piece of jewelry she liked she would exclaim “honey!” and have the biggest smile on her face. Mary was surrounded by the people she loved in her final hours and Mary’s smile will remain in the hearts of whom she loved forever.

Mary is survived by two sisters, Arlys Reeder of Northwood, IA, Barbara Anderson of North St. Paul, MN; brother; Thomas (Kathy) Brackey of Oakdale, MN; sister-in-law, Delores Brackey of Waukegan, IL and numerous aunts, uncles, and several other close family relatives.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Alfred Brackey and Garvin Brackey, sister, Roselle Brackey; brother-in-laws, Harry Reeder and Richard Anderson and several other close family relatives.
