Mavis M. Anderson

Mavis Marie Anderson was born January 13th, 1940, in Mankato, to Lillian (Jay) and Adolph Bartsch. She attended Immanual Lutheran grade School graduated from Mapleton High School in 1958, attended Mankato Commercial College, and graduated from South Central College, earning her an Associates Degree in Computer Science. She was an active member at the American Legion Auxillary #508, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution whose hobbies included tracing our family tree back to 1638. Mavis was honored with Emeritis Status after retiring from Minnesota State University and inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022 in celebration of the many years she dedicated to both faculty and students in the athletic department. When she wasn’t cheering the hockey team on from the sidelines, she enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing for trout in the streams of the Black Hills in SD, traveling across the country in their RV, often reminding her husband to keep his eyes on the road, not on the scenery!

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wayne Anderson, daughter Dana DeSantis, husband Drew, two grandsons, Dante and Devin, sisters Ruth Olson, Joan Schroader, Norma Strehlo, Eunice Mutske and husband Egon and many nieces and nephews.

Mavis is preceded in death and will be greeted into Heaven by her daughter, Devina, son Shane, mother and father, Liliian and Adolph Batrtsch and many friends and relatives. 

Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 421 N 2nd St, Mankato, MN. Viewing and visitation will begin at 10am, Service at 11am, followed by a gravesite gathering, then a fellowship luncheon in the basement of Immanuel Lutheran Church on Thursday, December 5th, 2024.
