Maxine L. Dauer

Maxine Lois Dauer, 90, of Nicollet, passed quietly on Thursday morning, May 12, 2022 at Ecumen Pathstone Living in Mankato. 

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mankato.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at church.  Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, Nicollet.  Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.  

Maxine was born on November 9, 1931 in Nicollet, MN to Edwin and Ruby (Ginkel) Zimmermann.  She attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School in Nicollet and graduated from Nicollet High School in 1950.  Maxine was united in marriage to Dwayne Dauer on June 12, 1955 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hopkins.  In 1955, Maxine and Dwayne bought the Skogmo Store in Nicollet, which later became Dauer’s Department Store.  They owned the store for many years.  Maxine was also an instrumental part in the beginnings of her son’s flower shop that became Village Flower in Nicollet.  Maxine was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet.  She was a charter member at Faith Lutheran Church in Nicollet and later became a member at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato.  Maxine enjoyed quilting, embroidery, and crewel work. 

Maxine is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Skye) Dauer of Eagle Lake and Perry (Bethany) Dauer of rural Mankato; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Frederick Dauer.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dwayne in 1994; and siblings, Robert, Wallace, Dean, and Charles.
