Melvin A. Krueger

Melvin A. Krueger, 103, lifelong resident of Mankato, died peacefully on Sunday, April 20, 2025. 

Private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato. 

Born in Gaylord, MN on April 5, 1922 to William and Ida (Hahn) Krueger. He served in the U.S. military from 1940-1942. He moved to Mankato in 1944. He married Betty Scott and they raised 3 children until her death in 1973. 

Melvin worked for the oil company in Mankato, Freyberg Oil, for 27 years. In 1970, he worked as a custodian for Mankato Vocational School until his retirement in 1984. 

Melvin met his special friend, Ricki Curtis in 1986. Together they enjoyed many travel adventures until her death in 2015. 

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato for 82 years and was proud of his Christian faith. 

Melvin is survived by his children, David (Beverly) Krueger, and Debra Anderson, as well as, 6 grandchildren; Matthew, Joshua, Kimberly, Jason, Scott, Kevin, and 9 great-grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife, Betty, son, Douglas, and special friend, Ricki. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Old Main Village and St. Croix hospice for their incredible care and compassion to Melvin while he was in their care.
