Michael Patrick Reynolds was born September 20, 1942 in Minneapolis to James and Carolyn (Blewett) Reynolds. The family moved to Mankato, where Mike attended Loyola High School. During his high school career, Mike participated and excelled in athletics and was named in All-Star football and basketball. After graduation, Mike attended St. Mary’s College in Winona and later enlisted in the Army, where he served six years in the Reserves.
Mike and his brothers, Tom and Bill, worked with their father in the family business, Reynolds Welding Supply Company. In 2006, Mike retired and the family sold the 50 year old business.
On May 4, 1979, Mike was united in marriage to Janet Larson. They maintained their Mankato home and spent their 40 years together traveling the world. Mike could often be heard stating, “I didn’t know how many places I wanted to visit.”
Mike enjoyed golfing, especially at the Mankato Golf Club, where he was a member, past-president, and a co-organizer of the MSU Sports Classic. In addition to golfing, Mike gave his sports ability, generosity, and support to the MSU Athletics. He was a sports booster, served on the foundation board and received numerous awards and recognitions during his years of involvement.
Card playing was a staple for Mike, especially with his Saturday morning card group, challenging a win in Pfeffer or Gin. He also was a Minnesota sports team enthusiast, watching the Twins, Vikings, and Wild. Mike was active in the Mankato area community and was a member of the Elks. On any given evening, Mike could be found enjoying a delicious meal with family or friends.
