I spent my childhood growing up outside of Worthington, MN, graduating in 1987 from Worthington Senior High School. I continued my education by completing an associate degree from Worthington Community College in 1989 and then a bachelor’s degree in Corrections from Minnesota State University, Mankato, in 1992. My dream was to become a probation officer, which I started with Blue Earth County in May 1994 and continued for 30+ years, retiring in 2024.

On August 10, 1991, I married Robert Lloyd Schroeder in Worthington, MN. We made our home outside of Lake Crystal, MN, down the road from the Schroeder family farm. In addition to work and raising a family, I was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal. I taught Sunday School and was a member of the women’s committee. I spent time coaching & cheering on my kids in volleyball, basketball, football, baseball, track and field, and softball while my kids played for LCWM Knights and later for the Loyola Crusaders.

On August 26, 2010, I was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and given six months to live. God has blessed me with many special milestones and memories these past 14 plus years, including creating The Schroeder Farm, which has become a wedding and special event center.

I am survived by my loving husband, Rob, along with our children Joshua & Amber Schroeder of Lake Crystal, MN, Karina & Lukas Hested of Lake Crystal, MN, Megan & John Fink of Blaine, MN. My fun and loving grandsons, Colt and Clay Schroeder, have brought me so much joy and amusement. My parents, Doug and Karen Wasmund, still live in my childhood home outside of Worthington, MN, along with my brother Matt and special friend, Jamie Bruns, who live in Jackson, MN. Bob & Judy “Jude” Schroeder, my wonderful in-laws of Lake Crystal, MN; sisters-in-law, Julie Linder of Worthington, MN, and Shari & Ken Husted of Eden Prairie, MN. My life is also blessed with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends that feel like family and a special son, a foreign exchange student who lived with us for a year, Federico ‘Fed’ Bedocchi, from Italy.

I am preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Arvid and Florence (Langseth) Nystrom, and paternal grandparents, LeRoy and Geneva (Wagar) Wasmund.
