Mikel Scott was born July, 9, 1955 in Minneapolis to Claude E. and Audrey M. (Mott) Stratton. They moved to Mankato when he was 2 years old, and resided in the area the rest of his life. Mikel enlisted in the US Navy and returned to the Mankato area. He was married, and later divorced. From that marriage, he had two children: Chad and Kali. Mikel had many jobs over the years including a pinball repairman and retiring as a supervisor in the MSU paint department. He enjoyed Model A’s, tinkering as a self-taught mechanic, Pioneer Power swap meets, classic car roll-ins, and was very proud of his lifelong collection of antiques and anything that ‘caught his eye’. He could always be found in his shop, classic rock playing in the background, typically working on a hotrod or two! Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family. To his kids, he was known as ‘Pops’. To his friends and family, Mike was known as an extremely generous, giving, thoughtful, and respectful man. Whether he would stop by just because he was in the area or a planned trip up north, Duluth area, the Black Hills, or to Bass Lake, Mike was always up for going places on a whim and never complained. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others, and his unconditional love.

Left to remember Mikel are his children: Kali (Zach) Alms, and Chad (Allison) Stratton; grandchildren, and other relatives and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Tom.
