On the morning of August 11th, 2023, the good Lord took Myron’s hand and led him home. His wife comforted him as he passed. He was 65 years old.

 

A funeral to mourn Myron’s passing and celebrate his life is planned for 11:00 a.m., on Friday, August 18th, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal, MN with preceding visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on the same day. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Building Fund or the donor’s choice. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

 

Myron was born on October 28th, 1957, in Mankato, MN. He was the fourth and youngest child of Sally and Jerome Sandstrom. He grew up in Lake Crystal, MN which is where he met the love of his life, Cheryl. Myron and Cheryl had 48 wonderful years together. They had three children who brought Myron great joy. Myron and Cheryl’s three grandchildren completed their tight-knit, loving family.

 

Myron graduated from Lake Crystal high school in 1976. He started working at Crysteel Truck Equipment when he was 16 years old, and he was there for 48 years before retiring in 2022. 

 

Myron lived a life full of love, joy, and meaning. He was a loving and loved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Myron was a dedicated member of Zion Lutheran Church having served as church President, taught Sunday School, he was involved with the youth group, and was instrumental in Zion’s band, SonRise and the contemporary services. He enjoyed trips to the Boundary Waters, woodworking, and wildlife.  Music was Myron’s greatest passion, and he shared it often. He sang and played his guitar at countless weddings, funerals, church services, and family gatherings. 

 

Myron leaves behind many family members who will miss him dearly: his beloved wife, Cheryl; his father, Jerome Sandstrom; his children, Jennifer Zumwalt, Brian (Kelsi Black) Sandstrom, and  Rachel (Tony Sieberg) Sandstrom; his grandchildren, Morghan Zumwalt, Carson Zumwalt, and Phoebe Sandstrom. He is also survived by his siblings, Regina (Kelvin) Olson, Martel (Patricia) Sandstrom, and Debra (Gerold) Boerger. Myron was close with his in-laws, Steve (Peggy) Helder, Ray (Kathy) Helder,  Mona (Michael) Felgen, Mike Helder, Pat Helder, Rexann (Nate) Helder, Shannon (Jake) Korth, Kathy Helder, and step-mother-in-law, Cindy Helder. He will also be missed by one aunt, one uncle, many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and friends.

 

Myron was preceeded in death by his mother, Sally Sandstrom; mother-in-law, Ruth Helder; father-in-law, Rexford Helder; and his brother-in-law, Ed Helder.
