Nancy Elizabeth Bowden

Nancy Elizabeth Bowden, 66, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019 in Minneapolis following a sudden stroke.

Born May 1, 1953, in Austin, MN to Buck and Shirley Heegard, Nancy was known throughout her life as a business owner, golfer, fisherwoman, advisor, party organizer, role model, and champion of women's rights. 

She was married to the love of her life, Michael “Bones” Bowden, on November 3, 1979, and the two spent 39 years traveling, laughing, and enjoying life side-by-side.

Nancy is remembered for her generosity, sense of humor, passion for justice, love of the outdoors, and heart for her community. Above all, she had the innate ability to read human nature and leave a loving, kind impression on everyone she met. Though losing her is painful, her legacy of compassion will continue on through those who knew her. 

She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael, and her siblings, David Heegard (JoAnn), Mary Distad (Chuck), John Heegard, Joan Jutson (Mike), Ann Westberg (Brian), and Joseph Heegard (Myrna), as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family who adored and admired her.  

A memorial will be held in her memory, with details to be shared with family and friends at a later date.
