Nancy Lee Compton

Nancy Lee Compton, age 76, of Mankato, died on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato with the Reverend John Peterson officiating. Private family interment will be at Minneopa Cemetery in Mankato.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at the funeral home and will continue on Thursday for one hour prior to the service.

Nancy Lee, the daughter of Calvin and Patricia Ann (Leske) Denton, was born on February 27, 1944 in Sleepy Eye. On November 4, 1961 she married Harlan Compton in Mankato. Nancy was a caretaker for her grandchildren and the neighborhood children. She was also a Sunday School teacher at Oak Knoll Lutheran Church, a member of the altar guild at Christ the King Lutheran Church and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Nancy was a proud cancer survivor. She enjoyed creating and mailing cards, reading, and helping others.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harlan Compton of Mankato; daughters, Deborah Tennant of Mankato and Teresa (Scott) Vaubel of Sleepy Eye; 7 grandchildren, Dylan and Nicholas Compton, Danyelle and Kimberly Tennant, and Amanda, Andrew and Alexander Vaubel; brother, Terry (Cathy) Denton of Sioux City, IA; brothers and sisters in law, Bill (Jan) Compton, Gordy (Terri) Compton, Sharon (Gary) Hewitt, Beverly Marquardt, Marcia Pugh, Nadine (Mike) Gatewood, and Wayne (Angela) Compton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Allen Compton, and brother, Gregory Denton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the American Cancer Society or donor’s choice.
