Nicholas James Hansen

A lifelong resident of Madison Lake, Nicholas James Hansen passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.  He was 23 years old.

Nicholas was born May 07, 1999 in Waseca, Minnesota. He was raised by Leah and Dan Hansen who had the honor of being his Grandparents and the privilege of raising him as his Mom and Dad and are forever grateful. He graduated from Mankato East High School in 2017. Nicholas worked part-time for Fun.com and seasonally, plowing snow for Guentzel Unlimited. 

Nicholas was a unique, loving and kind soul. He loved spending time with his Dad bear hunting, working on vehicles and especially fishing. He loved helping his Mom and would often come to her for advice and special talks. You could find him many days sitting on the lake in his little boat or fish house. He loved his family, friends, and his yellow lab Sammie. His contagious smile and spirit will be greatly missed.

Nicholas is survived by his parents, Dan and Leah Hansen; his siblings, Andrew Hansen, Andrea Lawrence, and Kate Rislow (Brian); cousin, Austen Hansen, and girlfriend Angel Tipsin. His biological father, Jeremy Hansen; and his biological siblings, Jeremy Hansen, Jr., Jordan Hansen, Isaiah Ley, Tayden Ley, Caysen Hansen, Jasmine Hansen, Drew Sanders, and Lexi Sanders. His paternal grandma, Julie Wendt (Jeff Fritz); great-grandmothers, Eva Hansen and Laurie Wendt. Along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Nicholas was preceded in death by grandma, Helen Bruder; great-grandparents, Joyce and Ken Kelley; great-grandpa, Carl Wendt; great-grandpa, Raymond Hansen; and uncle, Tim Hansen.

Memorial Mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church (where Nicholas was the most happy in his early years, attending his little school/church) in Madison Lake, MN at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 with visitation 1 hour prior. Celebration of life following service. Burial will be at Hebron Cemetery in Nicollet, MN at a later date.
