Norma Jean Abbott

Norma Jean Abbott, age 91, lifelong resident of Lake Crystal, died Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at her home.

Norma was born March 31, 1931 in Butternut Valley Township to Louie and Ida (Madsen) Larson. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1948. On April 29, 1951, Norma was united in marriage to Marlin H. Abbott in a country church near Butternut. They made their home in Lake Crystal and were blessed with three children, Jim, Chuck, and Kathy. Norma enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She also enjoyed watching the Twins and Vikings and doing crossword puzzles. She loved flower gardening, cooking, and visiting casinos. She was a very supportive, kind and giving person. Norma will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known her.

Norma is survived by her children, Jim Abbott of Lake Crystal, Chuck (Jane Johnson) Abbott of Shakopee, and Kathy (Steve) Barnett of Lake Crystal; grandchildren, Aric (Christy) Barnett, Jonathan (Katlyn) Abbott, Laura Abbott, Arin (Ryan) Meyer, and Kari (Scott) Ehlenfeldt; 8 great-grandchildren; former daughter-in-law, Kathy Abbott; and sister, Edith Meyer.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marlin; and 6 siblings.
