Norma Joan Schwichtenberg, age 88, of Mankato, died Monday, August 24, 2020 at Oaklawn Healthcare Center.
Graveside service will be held at 11am, Friday, August 28, 2020 at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Norma was born November 6, 1931 in Waterville, MN to James and Ida (Dalaska) Gish. She graduated from Le Center High School. On October 11, 1951, she married Glenn Schwichtenberg. Together, they raised three children, Jim, Rocky, and Tami. Norma worked for the Blue Earth County Veterans Office for 22 years. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake and their ladies aid, Disabled American Veterans, and American Legion Auxiliary. In her free time, she enjoyed camping, playing the organ and cards, and spending time with her family and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Norma is survived by her children, Jim (Toni) Schwichtenberg of Edmonds, WA, Rocky (Gale) Schwichtenberg of Mankato, and Tami (Doug) Marble of Mankato; grandchildren, Jamie (Zach), Jessica, Taylor Schwichtenberg, Kelsey (Jesse) Wiederhoft, Harry (Lindsey) Franke, Kevin (Amanda) Franke, and Jason Franke; great-grandchildren, Layla, Jeremiah, Addilyn, Aubree, Colton, and five others; and siblings, Jerry (Janet) Gish, Mayone Stocker, and Keith Gish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn, in 2012; siblings, Don Gish and Donna June Gish; brother-in-law, Jerry Stocker; and miniature poodle, Toby.
