Orval Patrick Marquardt, Jr.

Orval Patrick Marquardt, Jr., age 87, of North Mankato, died Monday, April 6, 2020.

Orval was born October 19, 1932 in New Ulm to Orval and Myrtle (Ulrich), Sr. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1950 and joined the Army on June 2, 1953. Orval proudly served in Germany before being honorably discharged on April 29, 1955. He was united in marriage to Nancy Smetana on June 18, 1955 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. Orval work as an electrician at Mankato Electric for 30 years before retiring in 1994. They were blessed with five sons, Jeffrey, Joel, Gregg, James, and Scott. His hobbies included golfing, traveling, playing board games and card games with friends and family, and working around the house and yard.

Orval is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Nancy Marquardt of North Mankato; sons, Jeffrey (Jill) of North Mankato, Joel (Loree) of Anaheim, CA, Gregg of Rochester, James of North Mankato, and Scott of St. Paul; 5 grandchildren, April (Justin) Doering, Alicia (Brandon) Macemon, Kimberly (Daniel) Peterson, Neil Marquardt, and Joseph Marquardt; 5 great-grandchildren, Bella, Faith, Lorelai, Miranda, and Kaden; and brother, Richard Marquardt of New Ulm.

Orval was preceded in death by his parents.
