Patricia Louise Norris

Patricia Louise Norris, 80, of Mankato, died Wednesday, May 15, 2019.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, and also at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Pat, the daughter of Marion and Angeline (Conrad) Treinen, was born on December 23, 1938, in Remsen, Iowa. She grew up in Remsen and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1957. After receiving her RN degree from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in 1960, Pat worked as a nurse in pediatrics and cardiology in Sioux City, IA, Omaha, NE and St. Louis, MO.

On July 13, 1963, Pat married the love of her life, John C. Norris, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA. After various stints living and working in Omaha, St. Louis and Fort McClellan, Alabama, Pat and John landed in Mankato, MN, in 1970, where they put down roots and raised their three children.

Pat was a talented cook and loved to share meals with family and friends. When she wasn’t preparing a gourmet meal, you could find her at bridge club or playing Mah-Jongg and Hand and Foot at the Mankato Golf Club. Her love of literature was insatiable and she belonged to several book clubs through the years. But her true passion was always her friends, family, children and grandchildren. Spending time with them never failed to bring her joy.

As an active member of her community, Pat served in various leadership roles, including the parish council of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was also a board member of several organizations, including The Mankato Lutheran Home, the Mankato Symphony Board, the Mankato Lutheran Home Auxiliary Board and was a member of P.E.O.

Since 1970, Pat’s life was peppered with numerous surgeries and major medical problems. Despite the constant pain she endured, she always had a smile on her face and rarely complained about her situation. Instead she chose to focus on the people and activities that mattered to her most. Her perseverance in the face of adversity will always be remembered and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Pat is survived by her loving husband and best friend, John, 3 children: Ann (Mike) Ducatelli of Apple Valley, MN; Jeff (Jacque) Norris of Aldie, VA; Lisa (Kevin) Riedl of Apple Valley, MN; 3 grandchildren, Andrew Norris, Greta and Charlie Riedl; 2 step grandchildren, Alyssa (Logan) Schultz and Steven (Ali) Ducatelli; brother, Donald of Remsen, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Judith and Dorothy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Loyola Catholic Schools, Pathstone, the Mankato Clinic Foundation, the Mankato Symphony or donor’s choice.
