Patricia Annette Peterson, 88 of Mankato, passed away July 17, 2019 at Ecumen Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Memorial service will be 11:00a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato with visitation from 9:00a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. The family prefers memorials be given to Centenary United Methodist Church or Ecumen Pathstone Living. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family.
Pat was born January 10, 1931 in Duluth, Minnesota. At the age of 10 days, she was adopted by Willard and Ethel Haynes. Pat graduated from Aitkin High School in 1949 and received her Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics Education from the University of Minnesota. In 1952, she married Ron Peterson. Together (with a lot of love, laughter and patience) they raised five children, Debra, David, Bruce, Philip, and Brad.
Pat taught in New London and Cottage Grove before her children were born, and then later in Mankato after the children were older. Pat and Ron introduced their family to the joy of traveling via many summer camping trips throughout the U.S. Later, Pat and Ron enjoyed traveling to many areas of the world including Europe, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, and Australia. Pat also traveled to Sierra Leone for a mission trip. She volunteered for many organizations including The Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, Operation Minnesota Nice, packing meals for children in Mankato, packing backpacks for children and was on numerous committees at Centenary United Methodist Church. While living at Pathstone, Pat was named Volunteer of the Year. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, walking, traveling the world, and always chatting with others.
Pat is survived by her children, Deb (Keith) Randa of Prior Lake, Dave (Carol) Peterson of Waynesville, North Carolina, Bruce (Nancy) Peterson of West St. Paul, Phil (Susan) Peterson of Apopka, Florida, and Brad (Chandra) Peterson of Lino Lakes; 11 grandchildren, Kirsten (Matt) Wagner, Erik Randa, Kurt (Ashley) Randa, Christopher (Zak) Peterson, Neil Peterson, Erin Peterson, Derek Peterson, Dru Peterson, TJ Peterson, Scott Peterson and Annika Peterson; 3 great-grandchildren, Stella and Finn Wagner, and Ensley Randa; one nephew and niece; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Ron in 2007.
