Pete Lee Murilla was born on July 21, 1941, in Madison Lake, MN to Jesto and Otilia Murilla. He grew up and attended school in the Eagle Lake area. Growing up in a large family working the fields, he learned the value of hard work. He worked mainly in the automotive industry, owning his own Auto Reconditioning business for close to 40 years.
He met Nancy Rivers through a friend and married on February 23, 1963, in Mankato, MN. For over 60 years they have lived and raised their family in the Mankato area.
Pete was a member of the St Johns the Baptist Catholic Church and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1414. He was an active participant in the AA program and attended many meetings throughout his sobriety. He enjoyed WWE wrestling, camping, fishing up North, going for road trips and drives, hitting up the casinos, and Wednesday morning coffee with friends. He was proud of a clean sparkly car, inside and out. He loved buying, tinkering with, and selling multiple vehicles throughout his life. He was most happy outside, working on the lawn or enjoying a warm sunny day surrounded by family and friends. And if there was a BBQ or meal, even better.
Pete is survived by his lovely bride and love of his life, Nancy Murilla. Four children: Gloria (Don) Doescher, Geri (Jeff) Hickok, Teresa Murilla, and Pete (Betsy) Murilla Jr.; 9 Grandchildren: Caroline (Brendon) Doenberg, Don (Emmy) Doescher, Charlie Hickok, Emily Hickok, Alex(Jo) Williams, Mason (Crystal) Williams, Liam Murilla, Noah Murilla, Penny Murilla; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy’s parents, 11 brothers and sisters, Nancy’s sister and brother, granddaughter Piper, and his beloved dogs Winnie and Luci.
