Phyllis Ann Haefner

Phyllis Ann Haefner, age 94, of Madison Lake, died on June 14, 2024 at Mankato Lodge. 

Memorial Mass will be held on July 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake. Visitation will be July 2 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will be at Calvary All Saints Cemetery, Madison Lake. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Caring Contact or School Sisters of Notre Dame. 

Phyllis was born on November 20, 1929 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Emil and Maysel (Murphy) Meurer. She graduated from Loyola High School in 1947, the year her debate team won the state championship. Phyllis graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in La Crosse, WI in 1950. On June 5, 1951, Phyllis was united in marriage to Denis Haefner at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She worked as a surgical nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital until 1953. Phyllis was very active as a volunteer in her church and her children’s schools. She was a supporter of Caring Contact. Phyllis enjoyed playing bridge and reading. 

Phyllis is survived by her children, Bridget Haefner (Steve McCurry), John Haefner, Keith Haefner, Paul (Laurie) Haefner, Chris (Jennifer) Haefner, Marybeth (Gregg) Edeen, and Marc Haefner (Lisa Cohen); grandchildren, Elizabeth Das, Katherine McCurry, Samuel McCurry, Simon McCurry, Joshua Haefner, Sarah Sacco, Kate Healy, Doug Haefner, Eileen Gillespie, Benjamin Haefner, Jasmine Haefner, Lawrence Edeen, Terry Wolf, Carl Edeen, Michael Haefner, and John “Jack” Haefner; great-grandchildren, Eshaan, Aahana, Aashni, and Rohaan Das, Ezra Hellendrung, Lily and Eleanor Haefner, Camden and Jack Sacco, and Avett and Oliver Healy; and cousins, Jeanne Morgan, Judy Jojolla, and Shirley Hermann. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Maysel; husband, Denis; and brothers, Joseph and Emil Jr.
